Exterior cleaning in Everett, WA
Our home city — the oldest housing stock we work on, and the one most exposed to marine air off Port Gardner.
RinzUP is based in Everett, which means this is the city we know best and the one we can usually reach fastest. It is also the hardest exterior-cleaning environment on our list, for a reason that has nothing to do with weather: the housing stock is old.
Large parts of Everett were built well before 1960, and Rucker Hill in particular is full of homes from the early 1900s. Old houses mean original wood siding, painted surfaces at the end of their life, mortar that has softened, and gutters that have been repaired more than once. None of that responds well to the pressure a newer house shrugs off.
Marine air, and what it does on the west side of town
Everett sits on Port Gardner Bay, and the neighbourhoods on the water side — Port Gardner, Bayside, Boulevard Bluff — get a steady marine influence the inland parts of the county do not. Salt in the air accelerates the breakdown of paint and speeds up the chalking on older vinyl, and the extra humidity keeps north-facing walls damp for longer stretches.
The practical result is that a west-facing Everett home often needs a gentler solution and a more careful rinse than the same house would in Bothell, because there is more chalking and more tired paint to work around. It is also why we would rather tell you a wall needs repainting than wash it hard enough to look briefly better.
Away from the water — Silver Lake, Evergreen, View Ridge — the profile is more ordinary Puget Sound: heavy moss on shaded roof slopes, algae on the north elevation, and gutters carrying whatever the neighbourhood's trees drop.
What we get called for most in Everett
Roof cleaning, by a wide margin. Older asphalt roofs in a wet climate accumulate moss faster than anyone expects, and Everett has plenty of roofs at the age where moss is doing real damage rather than just looking bad.
After that it is gutters — old homes tend to have older gutter runs, and we regularly find sections pitched wrong or pulling away from the fascia. We will tell you when that is what we are looking at, because clearing a gutter that does not drain is a temporary fix.
House washing on the historic homes is the job that needs the most judgement. Original wood siding and hundred-year-old paint are not vinyl, and we treat them accordingly.
